Monday 18 November 2024 - Fatstock Market
THE CATTLE MARKET
DUNSWELL
FATSTOCK MARKET
Forward – 194 head of stock including 12 Sheep and 182 Pigs.
PIGS
A lot of sows and heavy gilts forward this week, with a full unit depopulation included in the sale. Sow trade held up throughout, being very similar to what we’ve seen recently. Heavy gilts were back slightly, but there was a very significant number of animals in the pens, to which the trade is certainly attributable, all finding homes and a clear premium to sow price throughout as well, which is the most important thing.
Heavy Gilts to 84p/kg and £142.71, average 76.0p/kg.
Cull Sows to 70p/kg and £218.40, average 67.8p/kg.
Cull Boars to 69p/kg and £140.22, average 59.3p/kg.
SHEEP
Just a surprise load of store lambs this week, probably would have been better on the store market week but looking reasonably well sold, especially considering about a third were short scrotum castrated.
Store Lambs to £78, average £73.42.
