Forward – 95 head of stock including, 37 Sheep and 58 Pigs
PIGS
Numbers of pigs back up again from last week. Sows once again showing to be healthy trade with max prices of 55p/kg and £223.85/head, for a monster sow weighing over 400kg from JT Stubbings & Sons, Helperthorpe.
Bacon Pigs to 164p/kg and £186.60, average 164p/kg.
Overweight Pig to 158p/kg and £199.08.
Heavy Gilts to 78p/kg and £113.46, average 68p/kg.
Cull Sows to 55p/kg and £223.85, average 52.3p/kg.
SHEEP
Another smaller show of lambs again on a Fat Market week, including a run of store lambs. With a couple of nice pens of lambs selling to Propa Butchers, Roos & Mike Wilson Butchers, Patrington at £140/head
Prime Lambs
Mediums to 341p/kg and £140, average 336p/kg.
SQQ 336p/kg.
Store Lambs to £120, average £97.58.

Forward – 214 head of stock including 22 Cattle, 156 Sheep and 36 Pigs.
PIGS
A smaller number of pigs forward this week. Demand there however, a reduced trade for the sows reflective of an over-supply on the continent. Heavy Gilts remaining steady with highs of 110p/kg and £143/head.
Heavy Gilts to 110p/kg and £143, average 99.4p/kg.
Cull Sows to 43p/kg and £125.13, average 41.6p/kg.
SHEEP
A steadier showing across sheep & lambs on store market week, with trade remaining around 300p/k for prime lambs. With the market topped this week by a lovely pen of 45kg Texel X lambs from E Brown & S Suddaby, Bempton purchased by Mr J Butler on behalf of A Voase & A Jones, Preston. With more grass on the ground, store lambs are proving a strong trade with the market average now over £100/head. A good variety of breeding sheep forward with females topping at £200 for a pen of Texel Gimmer Shearlings from JL Caley & Son, Flinton.

Heavies to 297p/kg and £148.50, average 296p/kg.

Overweight Hogg to 255p/kg and £140.

Not quite the show of cattle we would have expected on the first market in October but a number of vendors tied up drilling or calving and more expected forward in a fortnight. Trade strong throughout especially for cows, with native breed cows looking particularly handy trade.

Forward – 169 head of stock including 25 Cattle, 121 Sheep and 23 Pigs.
PIGS
A similar number of pigs forward this week following the trend over the last fortnight. Over supply on the continent still affecting pricing for sows. However, demand remaining from buyers and more can always be sold.
Bacon Pigs to 164p/kg and £162.36, average 164.0p/kg.
Cull Sows to 43.8p/kg and £134.90, average 42.0p/kg.
SHEEP
Another steady showing across sheep & lambs on store market week, with vendors choosing to keep stock with an increase of grass on the ground. Trade remaining around 300p/kg for prime lambs. With the market topped this week by a lovely pen of 45kg lambs from S Wells, Barnetby purchased by Propa Butchers, Roos. Store lambs still showing consistency with market average still around £100/head.

CATTLE
As is being seen across the country, cattle are still a bit thin on the ground. But a fantastic trade amongst the calves entered with plenty of buyers around the ring. Market topped by a British Blue Bull Calf at £735 from WE Foreman, Brigham. The Store Cattle that followed showing an equally strong trade with an Aderdeen Angus Heifer from H W Colley & Son, Holme on the Wolds, selling for £1,800 and a run of younger dairy bred sorts from J Morris & Son, North Frodingham seeing a tremendous trade.

An increase in sows this week with a good half a dozen heavy gilts forward. Prices remaining at what has become common place over the last few weeks. However, demand remaining from buyers and more can always be sold.
Heavy Gilts to 98p/kg and £145.70, average 85p/kg.
Cull Sows to 43p/kg and £223.85, average 41.1p/kg.
SHEEP
Small show of lambs in terms of numbers again on the fat market but mainly heavy lambs on offer with a pen or two of longer keep store lambs thrown in as well. Trade was straight today; however, sheep are easier to market on the store market weeks.

Heavies to 301p/kg and £149, average 298.2p/kg
Overweights to 294p/kg and £162, average 289.3p/kg.
Overall average 292p/kg
Store Lambs to £94, average £84.80.

More pigs forward this week, with a run of strong fat pigs from JT Binley, Fitling topping out at 150p/kg for Gilts. Heavy Gilts and Sows remaining steady topping at 96p/kg and 46p/kg respectively.
Overweight Gilts to 150p/kg and £173.50, average 150p/kg.
Cutter Pig to 116p/kg and £109.04.
Overweight Boars to 100p/kg and £131.52, average 98.9p/kg.
Heavy Gilts 96p/kg and £118.90, average 77.2p/kg.

SHEEP
A much better showing of sheep & lambs on store market week, with a strong trade seen all round.
A number of fit lambs forward benefitting from a week or two extra in the field, market topped by a strong pen of 44½kg lambs from B Meadley at 328p/kg. Store lambs a tremendous trade today, again market topped by Mr Meadley at over 390/kg.

These are the cattle that we have been waiting for! A great turn out with a trade to match. A run of Beef Shorthorn feeding cows from D C Shelby, Benningholme topping at £2,290. Store cattle topped by a Beef Shorthorn Heifer at £2,110 again from D C Shelby, Benningholme, with plenty of other store beast up at around £2,000/head. A British Blue cow with a bull calf at foot from J T & W A Smith, Market Rasen realising £2,760 today.
