Hull Livestock Market – 15^th December 2025 – Fatstock & Extra Store Market

Forward – 118 head of stock including 32 Cattle, 74 Sheep and 12 Pigs.

PIGS

No sows this week due to the main abattoir closing early for Christmas. But, still a nice run of pigs to order through the market yesterday for our local butchers and suppliers.

Porker Pigs to 200p/kg and £171.00, average 200p/kg
Cutter Pigs 200p/kg and £183.67, average 200p/kg
Bacon Pigs 200p/kg and £195.33, average 200p/kg

SHEEP

A smaller showing for our last market of the year in the run up to Christmas. Trade remaining steady with market average of around 300p/kg, market topped by a pen of 49kg lambs from N Peyman, Sproatley selling for 316p/kg or £155/head purchased by M Wilson Butcher, Patrington. Store lambs remaining a strong trade with a market average of around £100/head.

CATTLE

A nice showing of cattle and calves through the market before Christmas. A pair of OTM Limousin steers and heifers from WJ Cawthorne & Sons, Lockington selling for £1,950/head, Clean cattle topped by a 15-month-old Simmental Heifer from M Reeve, Brockelsby selling for £1,370. The little ring topped by a lovely 2-month-old British Blue Bull Calf from W E Foreman & Son realising £730.

Forward – 241 head of stock including 24 Cattle, 100 Sheep and 117 Pigs.

PIGS
A big show of sows this week after three weeks off with Christmas and New Year. Trade back again slightly unfortunately, expected across the board this week though, as is often the case in January with the whole of Europe dealing with oversupply after the Christmas break. The best still grossing in excess of £150 though with a run of really fit sows from C N Warkup & Sons, Barmston leading the way.

Cutters to 148p/kg and £143.56, average 118.4p/kg
Bacon Pigs to 146p/kg and £157.68, average 104.8p/kg
Heavy Gilts to 104p/kg and £137.28, average 72.0p/kg.

Cull Sows to 42p/kg and £157.08, average 38.5p/kg.

SHEEP
A little show of good sheep would be an appropriate way to describe this week’s market, with a few vendors halted by the snow, those that did make it enjoyed a solid trade, hoggs topping at 330p/kg for a pen of 5 quality lambs from N R Wild, North Newbald, sold to R Featherstone Butcher, Howden or £162 from L Nettleton & Sons Ltd, South Frodingham to R H Binks, East Ardsley. Store Hoggs a good trade once again, with every pen over 300p/kg.

Mediums to 330p/kg and £150, average 310.3p/kg.
Heavies to 301p/kg and £150, average 296.9p/kg.
Overweights to 300p/kg and £162, average 300.0p/kg.
SQQ 3103p/kg.

Cull Ewes to £122, average £116.00.
Feeding Ewes to £100, average £72.00.

Store Hoggs to £126, average £117.64.

CATTLE
Some real quality on offer today in the cattle ring, and prices to match, topping at £2,170 for a tremendous 13 month old Limousin Steer from Andy Baker, Burton Pidsea, a real credit to the vendor and a deserved trade. A run of dairy bred older sorts ranging from 25-40 months also seeing strong demand and topping just a tenner short of £2,000. In the little ring trade was just as buoyant, topping at £750 for an 11 week Blue Bull from regular vendor A Oxtoby & Son, Bishop Burton, with more expected in a fortnight.
