DUNSWELL
FATSTOCK AND FORTNIGHTLY STORE MARKET
Forward – 263 head of stock including 32 Cattle, 185 Sheep and 46 Pigs.
PIGS
Plenty of heavy gilts around today, including a few that wouldn’t have taken any harm with a touch more feeding, and trade reflective of that. Sows stronger again though, with the average back on the right side of 60p/kg, which is good to see.

SHEEP
Best show of Spring Lambs we’ve seen this year, both in terms of quantity and quality, with some really super sheep in the pens from a good number of vendors. Market topped this week D & W Ward of Welwick, with a pen of 5 Texel X lambs at 358p/kg and J C Aconley, Brandesburton with a 54kg Tup Lamb at £170, both pens purchased by Yorkshire Halal, Osset. Ewes back to strength again this week with the demand coming back to normal now the festival is behind us.

CATTLE
A calf day today, with a good show and every pen in the calf house full. Market topped today by W E Foreman & Son with a superb Blue Bull with plenty of shape and about fit for weaning, realising £780. Calves generally a touch easier today, as would be expected with what’s been seen with the prime beef trade recently and probably more in line with where would be expected on a normal trade. Light show of store cattle, but the star of the show was a 11 year old Blonde D’Aquitaine feeding cow from T & J Turner, Thirtleby, which sold to £2,240 but did have some good shape to it.
