Forward – 58 head of stock including 38 Pigs and 20 Sheep.
PIGS
Pig numbers remaining steady. A few smaller sort gilts forward, top p/kg reaching 108p/kg for a 110kg gilt from Foster Farms, Brigham purchased by AJ Livestock, Hotham. Sows again seeing a penny or two dearer trade with market average now surpassing 35p/kg for the first time since the middle of January. Top price realised by a 314kg sow from R Fisher & Sons, Fitling selling for 36p/kg or £113.04 to Cheale Meats, Essex.
Heavy Gilts to 108p/kg and £121.00, average 62.1p/kg
Cull Sows to 36p/kg and £113.04, average 35.1p/kg.
SHEEP
Small show of sheep again on the fat market with just over half a dozen pens of fat hoggs on offer. Vendors, please note sheep are easier to market on the store market weeks.
Prime Hoggs
Rare Breed Standards to 285p/kg and £111, average 281.7p/kg
Heavies to 302p/kg and £151, average 298.4p/kg.
Over-Weights to 287p/kg and £155, average 287p/kg.
