Pigs remaining fairly static at the moment, although weight is definitely the key, with most demand for bacon gilts 100kg and over. Heavier gilts over 140kg are also still a strong trade, with a lot forward today and demand remaining throughout. Cutters to 106p/kg and £101.41, average 100.0p/kg.

This week saw the annual consignment from C B & V I Gardham, although there would have been a very good show of sheep even without them all who sold sheep enjoyed a very good trade. With fat lambs averaging 205p/kg across the board and 40 breeding ewes averaging £138. Trade is still healthy for store lambs, with plenty of buyers after them.

Mediums to 223.0p/kg and £97, average 203.5p/kg.

Texel X Breeding Ewes to £142, average £137.95.
Nearly 50 cattle forward this week, again partly due to the annual consignment from C B & V I Gardham. Something for everyone in the store ring, but healthy trade seen throughout, with a cracking pen of three forward heifers topping the market at £1,120. If the store ring was varied, the calf pens were unusually less so, with only Blue heifers and bulls forward, but a reasonable trade seen there as well. Breeding stock was the trade of the day though, with both cows and calves and in-calf cows very much sought after, and some marvellous prices seen.
Simmental Heifers to £1120, average £1120.
Hereford Heifers to £1120, average £826.66.
Simmental Steer to £1040.
Hereford Steers to £900, average £736.67.

British Blue Heifer to £330, average £277.14.
