Hull Livestock Market – 7 June 2021 – Fatstock & Store Market
Forward – 285 head of stock including 65 Cattle, 140 Sheep and 80 Pigs.
Commercial pigs on fire again this week in Hull! Some cracking pigs forward and some fantastic prices to match, commercial pigs averaging 121.4p/kg all in, including boars. Heavy gilts still in demand as well, with capacity for more. Sows strengthening on the fortnight, with the best pushing right up to 50p/kg and averaging over £100.
Porkers to 134.0p/kg and £110.55, average 113.0p/kg.
Cutters to 138.0p/kg and £126.96, average 131.2p/kg.
Bacon Pigs to 126p/kg and £131.04, average 116.7p/kg.
Heavy Gilts to 103.0p/kg and £148.41, average 71.8p/kg.
Cull Sows to 49.5p/kg and £146.88, average 44.5p/kg.
Cull Boar to 35.0p/kg and £137.55.
More spring lambs again, and a bumper trade to match, with an SQQ of 320.7p/kg and topping at £162 for a super Charolaise X Lamb from Mrs S Fussey of Barton. Hoggs are all but gone now but one or two buyers still have use for them, and teethers, so please don’t hesitate to bring them forward.
Mediums to 354.0p/kg and £154, average 320.7p/kg.
Heavies to 330.6p/kg and £162, average 316.6p/kg.
Over Weight Hogg to 184.1p/kg and £116.
Clean Sheep to 157.5p/kg and £105.50, average 148.4p/kg.
Cull Ewes to £125, average £82.18.
Aged Kerry Hill Ewe with a single lamb at foot to £140.
65 Cattle again through the market, including a good show of feeding cows, which met a roaring trade, with only a 16yo Dexter dropping below £1,100. A lot of younger cattle mixed with some nearly finished this week, including some young but tremendously bred Limousin Steers & Heifers, the steers especially proving a big hit with buyers and doing very well. Calves a reasonable, steady trade.

Monday’s Market will be going ahead as normal under the following restrictions as advised by the Government and Livestock Auctioneers’ Association:
- A drop and go system will be in place, vendors will not be permitted to enter the market.
- Face coverings must be worn by all customers in the market.
- Social distancing rules must be followed and therefore you should not stand within 2 meters of anyone else, including when stood round the ring and at pens during the sale.
- Anyone entering the market is required to sign a register, providing their name, address and phone number.
- Only 1 person will be allowed in the market office at any one time, in addition to market staff, please queue outside and wait for the office to be empty.
- Please do not attend the market if you are in an at-risk group or have shown any signs of being unwell, for your own safety and that of others.
