Forward – 123 head of stock including 26 Sheep and 97 Pigs.
PIGS
A good number of pigs through the market yesterday with almost 100 forward. However, sow trade still right back still with the oversupply on the continent still affecting the domestic market. Plenty of heavy gilts among those forward yesterday with smaller, cleaner sorts in demand, selling to 85p/kg for a 149kg gilt from Foster Farms, Catwick. K J Moore & Sons, Weel also forward with a run of cutter pigs selling to 117p/kg.
Cutter Pigs to 117p/kg and £111.15, average 87.9p/kg.
Heavy Gilt to 85p/kg and £126.65, average 40.8p/kg
Cull Sows to 21p/kg and £81.27, average 18.8p/kg.
SHEEP
A small show of rare breed sheep on fat market week with just over half a dozen pens sold.
Spring Lambs
Mediums to 327p/kg and £147, average 305.8p/kg
Heavies to 379p/kg and £178, average 302.1p/kg
SQQ 305.83p/kg
Cull Ewes to £170, average £147.33.
All pigs and cull sows must be SLAP MARKED with the holding of departure’s slap mark. Ear tags are not acceptable.
