Forward – 196 head of stock including 27 Cattle, 138 Sheep and 31 Pigs.
PIGS
Numbers slightly down this week but Sow trade again seeing a couple of pence dearer trade, with the market average exceeding 40p/kg for the first time since the beginning of December 2025, which is good to see. Sows topped by a monster 365kg sow from JT Stubbings & Sons, Helperthorpe realising £153.30. Only a few bacon pigs forward from CF Buckton & Son, Rise selling to Propa Butchers, Roos for 166p/kg.
Bacon Pigs to 166p/kg and £161.57, average 166p/kg.
Cull Sows to 46p/kg and £153.30, average 40.3p/kg.
SHEEP
A good number of sheep through the market yesterday, with a few ewes with lambs at foot forward. A fantastic trade all round yesterday, echoing what has been seen up and down the country over the last number of weeks. This week being topped by a pen of 45kg hoggs from regular vendor E Brown & S Suddaby, Bempton purchased by A J Coulson & Son, Osgodby for £180/head or 400p/kg. Stores again proving to be the trade of the day, a market average of 400.5p/kg with the top pen realising 462p/kg. Every store hogg in the market over £100, including a significant percentage under 30kg.

Mediums to 400p/kg and £180, average 370.1p/kg.
Heavies to 383p/kg and £187, average 366.2p/kg.
Over-Weights to 359p/kg and £194, average 355.14p/kg.
SQQ 370.1p/kg
Clean Sheep to 243p/kg and £200.
Cull Ewes to £190, average £132.50.
Store Hoggs to £154, average £127.40.
Breeding Sheep
Ewes with Lambs at foot to £276 and £116/life, average £226. (£96.86/life)

CATTLE
Numbers forward slowing as we reach the end of the back end of cattle kept out for late grazing last year, no slow up though in the quality of cattle forward with a trade to match. The big ring seeing its fourth consecutive store market week with a top price of £2,000 or over. This week topped by a strong 25-month-old Hereford Heifer from A Oxtoby & Son, Bishop Burton realising £2,000. Plenty of other cattle up around £2,000 with a run of cattle from Turner Bros, Immingham of their usual quality, topping at £1,920 for a 13-month-old Limousin Steer. Trade in the little ring fantastic. A run of Stirks from J Hunt, Louth topping the day at £985 for a 6-month-old Limousin Bull. W E Foreman & Son forward with their usual consignment of quality Limousin & British Blue Calves, realising a top price of £850 for a 3-month-old British Blue Heifer. More quality cattle expected in a fortnight.
