Forward – 255 head of stock including 62 Cattle, 92 Sheep and 101 Pigs.
Better show of commercial pigs this week, but plenty of capacity for more, and another week of good trade to match. Plenty of buyers for heavy gilts once again, please don’t hesitate to bring these to us, or give us a call if you want to know more. Sows stronger than last week again.
Cutters to 120.0p/kg and £111.12, average 114.0p/kg.
Bacon Pigs to 126p/kg and £139.36, average 126.0p/kg.
Heavy Gilts to 108.0p/kg and £141.51, average 80.3p/kg.
Cull Sows to 45.0p/kg and £144.86, average 40.7p/kg.
Cull Boars to 33.0p/kg and £124.74, average 32.1p/kg.
Good show of spring lambs today, with most butchers now having moved over and wholesale buyers still wanting more, springers are need regularly now. Some very strong ewes forward but prices flying as well in that department. Some unannounced Ewes & Lambs forward but plenty there for them and some fantastic prices seen. No market next week because of the bank holiday, next market is 7th June.
Mediums to 331.7p/kg and £139.50, average 312.4p/kg.
Heavies to 315.1p/kg and £159, average 305.0p/kg.
Prime Hoggs to 203.4p/kg and £120, average 190.7p/kg.
Clean Sheep to 164.3p/kg and £103.50, average 164.3p/kg.
Cull Ewes to £118.50, average £105.15.
Ewes with Lambs at foot twice to £288 for a Texel X Ewe with a pair at foot and £108/life for a similar ewe with a single, overall average £95.33/life.
A few less cattle than we have been used to recently but still a good show for the time of year, normally we would be about through the store cattle by now. Plenty of call for store cattle of all types though with plenty of buyers round the ring. Feeding cows consistent with what we have seen, with all vendors happy with their trade.

Aberdeen Angus Steers to £900, average £863.
Piemontese Steer to £900.
Limousin Steers to £870, average £845.
Salers Steer to £695.
Limousin Heifers to £1,190, average £889.
Aberdeen Angus Heifer to £860.
Blonde D’Aquitaine Heifers to £850, average £758.
Piemontese Heifer to £810.

Continental Feeding Cows to £1,100, average £915.

Monday’s Market will be going ahead as normal under the following restrictions as advised by the Government and Livestock Auctioneers’ Association:
- Face coverings must be worn by all customers in the market.
- Social distancing rules must be followed and therefore you should not stand within 2 meters of anyone else, including when stood round the ring and at pens during the sale.
- Anyone entering the market is required to sign a register, providing their name, address and phone number.
- Only 1 person will be allowed in the market office at any one time, in addition to market staff, please queue outside and wait for the office to be empty.
- Please do not attend the market if you are in an at-risk group or have shown any signs of being unwell, for your own safety and that of others.
