Hull Livestock Market – 24th August 2026 – Fatstock & Fortnightly Store Market with Breeding Sheep Sale
Forward – 346 head of stock including 15 Cattle, 289 Sheep and 42 Pigs.
PIGS
Pig numbers back, with fewer sows forward yesterday. However, overall sow trade up a penny, which is the third straight week we have seen an improvement in the trade. Plenty of fat pigs forward from a number of different vendors yesterday with trade topping at 100p/kg for a pen of strong 94kg cutter gilts from K J Moore & Sons, Beverley and being purchased by S&T Vodden, Pontefract.
Porker Pig to 98p/kg and £83.32.
Cutter Pigs to 100p/kg and £94.55, average 97.1p/kg.
Bacon Pigs to 98p/kg and £102.90, average 92.1p/kg.
Overweight Pigs to 70p/kg and £97.30, average 70p/kg.
Heavy Gilts to 32p/kg and £69.12, average 32p/kg.
Cull Sows to 27p/kg and £82.75, average 24p/kg.
SHEEP
A good number of sheep through the market this week with our breeding sheep sale. Prime lamb trade back slightly with a number of leaner sorts forward given the lack of grass about, with those better-quality fleshier lambs easier to sell. Trade on the day being topped by a pen of 50½kg lambs from regular vendors E Brown & S Suddaby, Bempton realising 317p/kg. Store lambs proving yesterday to be pound for pound the most expensive lambs in the market yesterday with every store lamb in the market selling in excess £100/head with average of £111.76. Breeding sheep selling to £300/head for a run of Texel X gimmers from J L Caley & Son, Flinton. Also forward a Pedigree Dutch Spot Shearling Ram - 'Gables Farm Influencer' selling for £300.

Standards to 315p/kg and £118, average 303.5p/kg.
Mediums to 311p/kg and £140, average 296.3p/kg.
Heavies to 317p/kg and £160, average 298.3p/kg.
Overweight to 300p/kg and £169, average 289.5p/kg.
SQQ 297p/kg.
Clean Sheep to £155.
Cull Ewes to £185, average £139.86.
Store Lambs to £122, average £111.76.
Breeding Sheep
Texel X Gimmers to £300, average £300.
Pedigree Dutch Spot Shearling Ram to £300.
CATTLE
Only calves forward yesterday from a number of different vendors and what a trade! W E Foreman & Son, Brigham forward with a run of their usual well-bred sorts, topping the market with a 2-month-old British Blue Heifer realising £960, with their full run selling to an average of £777/head. A trade that is becoming more and more commonplace at Hull Livestock Market. A Oxtoby & Son forward with a run of slightly older Herefords selling to £640 for a 3-month-old Bull. Fresher calves forward from E W & S Varley seeing their run sell to £590 for a 1-month-old Limousin Bull.

British Blue Bulls to £710, average £615.
Hereford Bulls to £640, average £500.
Limousin Bull to £590.
All pigs and cull sows must be SLAP MARKED with the holding of departure’s slap mark. Ear tags are not acceptable.
