Forward – 64 head of stock including 60 Pigs and 4 Sheep.
PIGS
An increase in pig numbers as we get towards the back end of March. A number of smaller sort heavy gilts forward, top p/kg reaching 133p/kg for a 115kg heavy gilt from Foster Farms, Brigham purchased by R Liversidge, Seaton Ross. Sow trade remaining steady to what was seen last week. Top price realised by a 310kg sow from C N Warkup & Sons, Barmston selling for 41p/kg or £127.10 to Cheale Meats, Essex.
Cutter Pigs to 139p/kg and £123.71, average 139p/kg.
Bacon Pig to 145p/kg and £162.40.
Overweight Pig to 144p/kg and £174.24.
Heavy Gilts to 133p/kg and £152.95, average 67p/kg.
Cull Sows to 41p/kg and £127.10, average 38p/kg.
SHEEP
Fat Hoggs to order through the market this week for a local butcher. Vendors, please note sheep are easier to market on the store market weeks.
Prime Hoggs
Mediums to 416p/kg and £185, average 416p/kg.
Heavies to 398p/kg and £199, average 398p/kg.
