Forward – 52 head of stock including 2 Sheep and 50 Pigs.
PIGS
Pig numbers back, but still 50 pigs sold through the market yesterday. Sow trade identical to last week, with the oversupply over on the continent continuing to affect the domestic market. Smaller cleaner sorts still in demand, due to lack of high numbers of processing gilts forward, topping at 26p/kg from Foster Farm, Catwick. A nice run of fat pigs forward yesterday from K J Moore & Sons, Beverley selling to 140p/kg for a pair of 91kg cutter gilts, with more expected forward next week.
Cutter Pigs to 140p/kg and £128.10, average 116.1p/kg.
Heavy Gilt to 119p/kg and £147.56.
Cull Sows to 26p/kg and £65, average 19.3p/kg.
SHEEP
A small show of sheep again on fat market week with a couple of cull ewes on offer. Vendors, please note sheep are easier to market on the store market weeks.
Cull Ewes to £140, average £130.
