Forward – 402 head of stock including 34 Cattle, 292 Sheep and 76 Pigs.
PIGS
A good number of pigs forward yesterday. Plenty of heavy gilts about, with mainly larger sorts forward which affected overall trade. A few overweight boars and gilts from GB Cook, Beeford also forward selling to 70p/kg with an average of their overall run of 60.8p/kg. Sow trade back by two to three pence, selling to an average of 21.6p/kg.
Overweight Pigs to 70p/kg and £82.60, average 60.8p/kg.
Heavy Gilts to 51p/kg and £75.20, average 40.5p/kg.
Cull Sows to 24p/kg and £71.21, average 21.6p/kg.
SHEEP
A good showing of sheep yesterday with a bit of all sorts forward for our Breeding & Store Sheep Sales. Prime lamb trade up with some cracking lambs forward from several different vendors, regular vendors E Brown & S Suddaby topping the day with a lovely pen of 46p/kg lambs selling for 389p/kg to S Voase of A Jones Butchers & Bakers, Preston, who will have some lovely meat in his shop this week. S Wells, Barnetby also breaking 380p/kg with a pen of 47 ½ kg lambs realising 381p/kg. Store lambs pound for pound the most expensive lambs in the market with several pens selling in excess of 350p/kg, with a top price of 371p/kg. Breeding Rams selling to £320 for a strong, shapey Texel Ram from J & S Killick, Winterton. C Timbury, Wassand forward with a consignment of Badger Faced Texel Ewes, Gimmers and Gimmer Lambs seeing a top price for her run of sheep of £238/head for a pen of gimmers.

CATTLE
Cattle numbers back but a strong trade seen all round yesterday. In the big ring B Butler, Aldborough forward with a run of 17 – 20-month-old Limousin, British Blue and Aberdeen Angus Steers and Heifers selling to £1,800 for a trio of 18 – 20-month-old British Blue Heifers, with a full run average of £1,734. Trade of the day came from a 11-month-old British Blue Heifer from J Morris & Son, Driffield selling to £1,820. Trade in the little ring just as strong if not better, W E Foreman & Son forward with a consignment of their usual smart sorts selling to £800 for a 3-month-old British Blue Bull, with a full run average of £751.
