Forward – 452 head of stock including 51 Cattle, 333 Sheep, 54 Pigs and 14 Goats.
PIGS
A much healthier showing of sows this week compared with the last few weeks, with the top price increasing above £200, with top p/kg remaining similar to previous weeks along with the average. A good run of heavy gilts with top price now at £180. Trade increasing from previous weeks which is really good to see coming into September.
Heavy Gilts to 124p/kg and £181.04, average 86.0p/kg
Cull Sows to 59p/kg and £208.27, average 53.2p/kg.
SHEEP
Another great showing within Store and Prime Lambs following no market on August bank holiday. Demand remaining strong from previous weeks on the store market with plenty of buyers showing up for the day’s sale with a number of pens of quality lambs on show. Prime Lambs topping 327p/kg for a pen from E Brown & S Suddaby, Bempton purchased by Parkin Family Butchers, Howden, with Mr S Voase of A Voase & A Jones, Preston also purchasing a good amount of quality lambs from different vendors.

CATTLE
A good show of cattle this week, as we hit September more are expected regularly now. The annual consignment of spring born Herefords from CB & VI Gardham, Hornsea seeing their usual demand and a strong trade, a mark of the quality of goods on offer. Calves still strong, with just weaned calves from WE Foreman & Som, Brigham once again looking trade of the day, lead by 3mo Blue bull at £710 in the little ring.
