Forward – 96 head of stock including 17 sheep & 79 Pigs.
PIGS
Another good showing of pigs yesterday on fat market week, with numbers up on those forward last week. Overall sow trade up again for the second week, which is good to see but still a long way off where it needs to be. K J Moore & Sons, Beverley forward again with a run of fat pigs selling to 90p/kg for both a pen of 97kg and 91kg gilts. Plenty of smaller sort processing gilts forward selling to 78p/kg for a pen of 105kg gilts from Foster Farms, Catwick and being purchased by R.H. Binks & Sons Butchers, East Ardsley.
Cutter Gilts to 90p/kg and £82.13, average 88p/kg.
Bacon Gilts to 90p/kg and £87.53, average 90p/kg.
Heavy Gilts to 78p/kg and £81.90, average 47.9p/kg.
Cull Sows to 25p/kg and £78.16, average 22.9p/kg.
SHEEP
A small show of sheep with mainly ewes forward. Vendors, please note sheep are easier to market on the store market weeks.
Spring Lambs
Standard to 326p/kg and £124.
Cull Ewes to £150, average £137.50.
All pigs and cull sows must be SLAP MARKED with the holding of departure’s slap mark. Ear tags are not acceptable.
