With a long standing association with auctions and livestock markets in East Yorkshire and further afield we continue to offer this traditional and competitive approach to selling always intent on maximising value for our clients.

We operate the only remaining livestock market in East Yorkshire from our livestock market at Dunswell between Beverley and Hull selling prime and store stock. With fat and cull sheep and pigs every Monday starting at 10.30am and store cattle, sheep and pigs fortnightly. With 3 experienced auctioneers, mobile office and dedicated office team we can advise you on your sale and will set up, undertake and sell your goods for you after full marketing. If you have a small number of items to sell one of our regular collective sales either monthly at the Cattle Market or one of our 5 sales a year at our sale ground at Winestead will be able to accommodate you. Hull Livestock Market – 15th September 2025 – Fatstock & Fortnightly Store Market with Breeding Sheep Sale

Forward – 323 head of stock including 46 Cattle, 210 Sheep and 67 Pigs.

PIGS
A fantastic showing of pigs this week from a number of vendors, with top p/kg across the board reaching 174p/kg. Sows continue to show a healthy trade with prices reaching 56p/kg or £196.45/head for a monster sow from DA & CA Buckton, Danthorpe. Following last week’s market another good strong run of heavy gilts with top price now pushing to the £210 mark. Trade was excellent yesterday, with lots of buyers attending to see the pigs on offer.

Cutter Pig to 174p/kg and £168.78.
Bacon Pigs to 163p/kg and £185.82.
Heavy Gilts to 139p/kg and £209.44, average 120.7p/kg

Cull Sows to 56p/kg and £196.42, average 53.8p/kg.

SHEEP
A better show of sheep on the store market again this week, although a lot of lambs lacking a bit of finish, which is reflected in the averages somewhat. Store lambs are a good trade though, included some purchased out of the fat pens to run on, topping at £116.50 for some over 40kg. In the breeding section, a run of Mule Gimmers from J & M Sleight, Etton really doing the business, topping at £222 with nothing under £200.

Mediums to 299p/kg and £135, average 280.6p/kg.
Heavies to 303p/kg and £156, average 282.51p/kg.
Rare breeds to 240p/kg and £120.

CATTLE

Cattle sales are ramping up now after harvest, with more expected in the coming weeks. As seen previously, breeding cattle are a strong trade, particularly cows & calves, with a young British Blue cow with a fresh heifer calf at foot from R F & J F Heath, Cowden realising £2,580 today. All cattle still good to sell though, with a run of 9 months old Beef Shorthorns from D C Shelby, Benningholme looking a particularly strong trade, topping £1,200 across the board.
