Forward – 262 head of stock including 75 Cattle, 83 Sheep and 104 Pigs.
PIGS
Over 100 pigs forward yesterday for the first market back after the easter bank holiday. Sow trade remaining steady, seeing a near identical trade with the last market a fortnight ago. Sows topped by a 290kg sow from Foster Farms, Catwick realising £118.90. A number of fat pigs forward with a pen of bacon gilts from GB Cook, Beeford selling for 133p/kg or £137.88/head to AJ Livestock, Hotham.
Porker Pig to 125p/kg a nd £97.50.
Bacon Pigs to 133p/kg and £137.88, average 111.9p/kg.
Overweight Pigs to 125p/kg and £157.50, average 117.9p/kg
Heavy Gilts to 89p/kg and £125.40, average 73.6p/kg
Cull Sows to 45p/kg and £118.90, average 39.2p/kg.
SHEEP
A smaller showing yesterday as we near the end of last years hoggs. Trade as buoyant yesterday as has been seen elsewhere up and down the country, with more ewes with lambs at foot being seen through the market. This week being topped by a pen of 46kg hoggs from regular vendor E Brown & S Suddaby, Bempton purchased by A J Coulson & Son, Osgodby for £175/head or 380p/kg. Fewer stores seen yesterday but again a straight trade for those forward, with a top price of £122/head of 340p/kg being achieved.

CATTLE
A fantastic number of cattle forward with the market seeing the largest show of cattle this year. The big ring seeing a solid trade with plenty of beast reaching and exceeding £1,800. This week topped by a 7-year-old British Blue Feeding Cow from JT Binley, Fitling realising £1,910. H W Colley & Son, Holme on the wolds forward with the best of the rest seeing a 16-month-old Limousin Heifer sell for £1,880. Trade in the little ring fantastic. A British Blue Heifer Stirk from EW & S Varley, Wassand topping the day realising £895. The vendor also forward with a run of 4 – 7-week-old Aberdeen Angus Calves selling to £670, for a 7-week-old bull. An 11-week-old British Blue bull from A Oxtoby & Son, Bishop Burton topping calves, realising £760 in the little ring.
