Hull Livestock Market – 25 January 2021 – Fatstock & Store Market
Forward – 340 head of stock including 46 Cattle, 177 Sheep and 117 Pigs.
Pig trade in line with the industry standard at the moment, with nothing really to write home about but trade fairly steady throughout. We were missing quite a few butchers this week, with a local abattoir shut down with Covid for a week, but a big show of over 30 heavy gilts remained reasonable throughout.
Porkers to 98p/kg and £83.30, average 98.0p/kg.
Cutters to 92.0p/kg and £88.93, average 91.1p/kg.
Bacon Pigs to 91.0p/kg and £89.18, average 91.0p/kg.
Heavy Gilts to 60.0p/kg and £89.78, average 43.0p/kg.
Cull Sows to 21.5p/kg and £68.48, average 17.6p/kg.
Sheep trade has dropped across the board in the last week but still marvellous for the time of year. Lambs over 200p/kg right up to nearly 60kg yesterday and an SQQ 232.7p/kg. Cull ewes and store lambs both still in demand as well, with a good market for all types.
Standards to 234.6p/kg and £91.50, average 234.6p/kg.
Mediums to 239.3p/kg and £100.50, average 232.3p/kg.
Heavies to 233.7p/kg and £118, average 213.4p/kg.
Over-Weights to 200.0p/kg and £118, average 200.0p/kg.
Over-Weight Clean Sheep to 80.5p/kg and £70, average 80.2p/kg.
Cull Ewes to £106, average £86.32.
Store Lambs to £82, average £70.38.
Mule Gimmer Hoggs to £104, average £104.
Second cattle market in a week after a long break before and still a good number forward. Good trade through both rings, more capacity for cattle is there, please get in touch if you have any to sell. Next cattle market is 8th February.

Monday’s Market will be going ahead as normal under the following restrictions as advised by the Government and Livestock Auctioneers’ Association:
- Face coverings must be worn by all customers in the market.
- Social distancing rules must be followed and therefore you should not stand within 2 meters of anyone else, including when stood round the ring and at pens during the sale.
- Anyone entering the market is required to sign a register, providing their name, address and phone number.
- Only 1 person will be allowed in the market office at any one time, in addition to market staff, please queue outside and wait for the office to be empty.
- Please do not attend the market if you are in an at-risk group or have shown any signs of being unwell, for your own safety and that of others.
