PIGS
Fewer pigs about this week, but still strong trade for them with heavy gilts in demand once again. Sows breaking £300/head for a pair of really good fleshy sows from C N Warkup & Son, Beeford.

Cutters to 183p/kg and £170.19, average 183.0p/kg.
Bacon Pigs to 200p/kg and £219.20, average 200.0p/kg.
Heavy Gilts to 150p/kg and £221.10, average 133.5p/kg.

Cull Sows to 86.5p/kg and £303.58, average 83.5p/kg.

SHEEP
First spring lambs of the season this week, with a run of Polled Dorsets from G L Riby & Son, Fraisthorpe looking a decent trade, being mainly tup lambs. Hoggs still holding up as well, with the better fleshed end still comfortably holding their own. Ewes a very strong trade this week, but some size and flesh about in the pens, which definitely makes a difference.

Polled Dorset Heavy Tup Lambs to 357p/kg and £166, average 357.0p/kg.

Prime Hoggs
Light Tup Hogg to 272p/kg and £87.
Standards to 342p/kg and £130, average 313.2p/kg
Mediums to 376p/kg and £167, average 350.0p/kg.
Heavies to 364p/kg and £177, average 352.8p/kg.
Over-Weight to 292p/kg and £175.

Clean Sheep to 280p/kg and £123, average 258.5p/kg.

Cull Sheep to £186, average £113.11.

CATTLE
Special Sale of Store Heifers today, proving slightly harder to market than the Steers we’ve had at the last two store markets but still looking a decent trade, with a lot of cattle forward significantly smaller and younger than we have seen in recent times. Calves a good trade again, with a run of Bulls from A Oxtoby & Son, Bishop Burton being well presented and doing particularly well.
