Forward – 238 head of stock including 35 Cattle, 105 Sheep and 98 Pigs.

PIGS
Good trade for commercial pigs again today, topping at 213p/kg for a run of Gilts from Abbeygarth Pigs, Welwick and Heavy Gilts also in demand with a good number and good bit of weight forward, average price being £202.46 on an average weight in excess of 170kg.

Bacon Pigs to 213p/kg and £223.65, average 203.6p/kg.
Heavy Gilts to 153p/kg and £240.12, average 118.6p/kg.

Cull Sows to 85p/kg and £261.80, average 81.4p/kg.
Cull Boar to 80p/kg and £144.00.

SHEEP
First commercial bred spring lambs of the season this week, with a load of proper goods from D W Kirby & Son, Rise commanding some real attention and selling to 445p/kg for a couple of pairs, purchased by Laverack Butchers, Holme on Spalding Moor and Rob Featherstone Butcher, Howden. Hoggs still holding up as well but more and more coming forward with teeth up now and this definitely has an effect on price.

Spring Lambs
Mediums to 445p/kg and £180, average 433.2p/kg.

Prime Hoggs
Mediums to 379p/kg and £163, average 367.4p/kg.
Heavies to 369.4p/kg and £181, average 369.4p/kg.
Over-Weight to 312p/kg and £181.

Clean Sheep to 297p/kg and £110, average 169.2p/kg.

Cull Sheep to £177, average £113.30.

Rare Breed Store Hoggs to £80, average £61.84.

Ewes & Lambs to £182 for a Texel X ewe with a pair of Lleyn X tup lambs at foot or £75/life for a similar ewe with a single lamb, average £149.20/family (£57.38/life).

CATTLE
Slightly fewer cattle about this week, but strong trade for those forward, topping at £1,540 for a short keep Young Bull from P & O Kitchen, Owstwick and a run of Yearling Limousin Steers from W J Cawthorne & Son, Lockington also sought after on the day, with each of them making £1,190. Calves a wonderful trade again with a good run expected in a fortnight.

Store Cattle
Beef Shorthorn Steer to £1,400.
Limousin Steers to £1,190 (twelve times), average £1,190.
British Blue Heifers to £980, average £837.
British Blue Steer to £530.
Holstein Friesian Steers to £390, average £390.

Simmental Young Bull to £1,540.

Calves
Hereford Bulls to £415, average £400.

Cows & Calves to £1,770 for a 10 year old Blonde D’Aquitaine with an 8 month old Limousin Heifer Calf at foot, average £1,740/outfit.
